Ahmedabad based Sambhaav Group of Publications has won the bid for advertisement on bus shelters from Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service for the next three years. The contract was earlier handled by Ahmedabad based Krishna Communications.
The bidding was held on April 7, 2006 and saw the participation of Chitra Publicity and Krishna Communications, besides Sambhaav. Sambhaav ended up bagging the contract by paying an annual licence fee of Rs 1.69 crore per annum to the Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service, informed Sambhaav Group CMD, Kiran Vadodaria.
Commenting on the challenges that Sambhaav looks forward to while working on the project, Vadodaria said, “As you are aware, every business opportunity faces challenges. In our case, we have to put up backlit hoardings on bus shelters, plus hoardings on prime commercial areas like Ashram Road and C G Road. On the top of it, we have buses, bus depots, bus stands and premises of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC), which is spread out all over Gujarat. Hence, keeping the focus on city specific business, we also have to explore means to reach out throughout the state.”
The company has acquired the rights for advertisement on 846 bus shelters and has already started the work for the fixing of the sites on bus shelters, which will become operational from May 7, 2006.
Explaining the strategy that will be adopted while working on the project, Vadodaria said, “Our ‘Sambhaav Metro’ is No. 1 afternoon newspaper of the city and considering the specific requirements of local city business community with the synergetic requirement of print media and affordable outdoor media, we will be able to sale the same. We are also planning to repeat these types of activities in other metro cities like Surat, Baroda and Rajkot.”
For the record, Sambhaav had also won the bid for GSRTC buses recently.
