MTC Chennai invites bid for ad rights on over 2,200 buses

The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Chennai) Ltd (MTC) has invited bids under the ‘two-packet’ system from eligible applicants offering ad display rights on the rear side of passenger seats in over 2,200 buses operated from various MTC depots. The contract shall be awarded for a period of 33 months.

These rights are being offered for the following three categories: • The first category is display of ads on the rear side of passenger seats (single seats) of 1,200 buses.

• Second category is a display of ads on the rear side of passenger seats (double seats) of 1,000 buses; and

• The third category is display of ads on the rear side of passenger seats (single seats) of 65 vestibule buses.

The applicants shall be required to submit separate tenders for each category.

The EMD required for categories 1 and 2 is Rs 50,000 each. For category 3, the EMD has been specified at Rs 5,000. Applicants shall be required to submit the EMD through a demand draft from any nationalised or scheduled bank. The draft should be drawn in favour of MTC (Chennai) Limited, Chennai, and should be payable at Chennai.

The applicants should have registered establishments with at least one year’s experience in the advertisement field.

As per the terms specified, the licence will initially be offered for a period of 11 months. This can be extended twice in two spells of 11 months each at an escalated rate of 20 per cent for the first renewal and 25 per cent for the second renewal.

Tender documents can be obtained from the Sel. Grade Assistant Manager (Cash), MTC (Chennai) Limited, Pallavan House, Anna Salai, Chennai on payment of Rs 5,000 till 1 pm on August 17, 2010.

If the tender documents are downloaded from the website, the demand draft towards the cost of the tender documents will have to be attached with the duly completed tender documents at the time of submission.

Tenders must be submitted in sealed envelopes addressed to the Managing Director, MTC (Chennai) Limited, Pallavan House, Annasalai, Chennai and super scribed with the respective category.

The applicants should put the completed tenders into the specific tender box available in the office of the Assistant Manager (Advt. Rev), Pallavan House, Corporate Office, Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Chennai) Limited, Annasalai, Chennai on or before 3 pm on August 17, 2010.

The tender will be opened on the same day at 3.30 pm.
