Laqshya Media has recently been awarded the OOH advertising rights for Coimbatore Airport. The contract is for a period of five years. This is the OOH agency’s fourth major airport advertisement rights contract after bagging the independent advertising rights for the Bangalore Airport Bus Branding rights, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) Hyderabad, and Colombo Airport through its subsidiary, Vertigo Lanka.
The other major players in the fray for the Coimbatore Airport rights were Times OOH, TDI International, P-Corp and ETA, a new entrant from Chennai.
According to sources, Laqshya had bagged the advertising rights for both international and domestic terminals of Coimbatore Airport and shall be paying Rs 6.25 crore per year for a period of five years to the Airport’s statutory authority.
It may be recalled that on July 24, 2008, battlelines were drawn in the bid for outdoor advertising rights at the domestic and international terminals of Coimbatore Airport.
Yuvraj Agarwal, Chief Marketing Officer, Laqshya Media, said, “As far as the Coimbatore Airport is concerned, the Airports Authority of India has been positive about its modernisation, which is why it has already invested around Rs 10-15 crore on the upgradation of both the runway and the terminal. Also, after Chennai, it is the second largest airport in South India that has a traffic growth of 35-40 per cent from what it used to have some time back.”
