Ex- Kinetic India Head, Amit Sarkar launches independent agency Nomad

Amit Sarkar, the former India Head of WPP’s OOH Agency, Kinetic, is launching a full service specialist agency called Nomad. The agency will primarily focus on OOH with integrated offering platforms including mobile, digital, data, content and creative consultancy. Activation, retail, cinema and sports will be other focus areas in the months to come, Sarkar informed us. Nomad is expected to be operational from April 1, 2016.

“Programmatic buying in the Digital OOH space , creative advisory and content development specific to OOH and embracing ‘technology’ at the centre of innovation is the mantra for us,” said Sarkar.

Nomad will be privately funded and will initially have offices in Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Delhi. There are also plans to open a JV office in Singapore in the next three months. Sarkar said Nomad hopes to have a team strength of 30 over the course of the year, with some senior members expected to come on board in the coming weeks.

“In the industry we belong, where the major investment is on people, we deliberated a lot and arrived at the name “Nomad”, as we have a bunch of knowledge hungry people who are willing to venture to the far lands of media, data, technology and convergence to get the best for our clients and business associates.

The strength of Nomad comes from the skill pool brought in by individuals with extensive work in full service media agencies, OOH, digital services and also technology boutiques. We have got our financials and business plan right in place and will operate with an office network across key metros, to start with,” added Sarkar.

Sarkar has over 18 years of professional experience in the media industry and has worked for The Daily, Mumbai, Sahara India Television, Madison Out Of Home, Posterscope, Clear Channel and Portland Outdoor. His last stint was for 8 years with Kinetic in various capacities, culminating as Country Head. Under his leadership, Kinetic achieved the market leader position in 2014 and integrated Bates Wall Street (another WPP OOH company) under the Kinetic umbrella.
