Bangalore Transport Corp invites tenders for 5-yr ad rights for over 5,000 buses

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has invited offers from agencies, companies and firms for granting sole ad rights on passenger seat backs, driver seat backs, grab handles and LCD/LED panels inside its buses.

These rights are being offered for a period of five years, excluding those AC buses that ply en-route the airport, the Electronic City and ITPL. The contract period is extendable by a maximum of three years. However, these extensions will be granted for one year at a time. For package one, the maximum number of buses allocated is 5,500, while for package two, the number of buses allocated is 250.

The applicants should preferably be enrolled with BBMP. However, others may also participate in the auction-cum-tender. This is, however, subject to the condition that the successful bidders would have to get this enrolment done within 15 days of being awarded the contract.

Ads shall be displayed only on the backs of the driver seats, passenger seat backs, 25 grab handles per bus and LCD panels inside the buses. The size of the LCD panels inside the bus shall be a minimum of 19" X 21". A maximum of three LCD screens will be allowed inside each bus.

Successful bidders will be required to reserve five minutes per hour on the LCD/LED screens to display passenger information as decided by BMTC. Besides, BMTC may occasionally use unutilised media such as seat backside, grab handles, etc.

The EMD required for these two packages are Rs 25 lakh and Rs 15 lakh. The applicants shall be required to pay this amount through demand draft drawn in favour of CAO-FA, BMTC, Bangalore. The demand draft will also need to be scanned and uploaded on to the e-procurement portal. The original draft towards the EMD will have to be submitted after bid submission closure and before auction commencement.

The reserve price payable to BMTC is Rs 450 per bus per month for package one consisting of ordinary buses; and Rs 4,500 per bus per month for package two consisting of AC buses.

The selected bidder shall be obligated to display advertisements in Kannada language as well.

The auction will be held from 1 pm to 3 pm on August 19, 2010.

The duly completed tender forms will have to be submitted latest by 3 pm on August 17, 2010.
