Zoom embarks on extensive marketing drive for Reebok Zoom Glam Awards 2008

Zoom embarks on extensive marketing drive for Reebok Zoom Glam Awards 2008

In the second year of Zoom Glam Awards, Zoom has attempted to present the event on a wider scale. The channel has created episodes leading up to the final awards, which took place on January 8, 2008. M K Anand, Vice-President and Business Head, Zoom, explained, “Zoom has grown in reach and awareness since last year. So we enjoy that much more awareness around the event with this.”

Though the Reebok Zoom Glam Awards 2008 ceremony took place on January 8, the awards episode would be telecast on January 18. Anand divulged that the period in between would see Zoom market the event extensively. He said, “The marketing has already begun. We are also creating snippets and vignettes that would be aired to build up the event.”

When asked on the decision to partner with Reebok, which is primarily a sports brand, Anand said, “Reebok is launching its lifestyle brand and the timing made sense.” Explaining further on that, Puneet Sewra, Brand Manager, Reebok, said, “Today, sports has become fashionable and fashion has its derivates from sports. For us, the lifestyle range was a logical extension of our sports offering. Sports is still in our DNA, but lifestyle is the next step.”

“The Zoom Glam Awards celebrate individualism, and that is what Reebok stands for too. We recently launched the Dhoni collection, for which Dhoni was in the Reebok office for two days to design that collection. Reebok doesn’t just celebrate the sportsman but also the individual, and that is why we partnered with an event like this,” Sewra added.

Zoom also created a post-property element with the launch of a Reebok Zoom Glam Awards coffee table book. Percept Holdings’ Joint Managing Director Shailendra Singh is the Guest Editor of this book. Speaking on the experience, Singh said, “This was a great form of expression for me. In the last few years, I have been involved in various forms of communication, and this is yet another. Though I’ve played it safe, the book states a hard story of the gold, which is the glitter, and the black and white, the reality of the glamour world. In all, presenting that was a great experience.”

The Zoom Glam Personality of the Year is Shah Rukh Khan. The other winners of the Reebok Zoom-Glam Awards 2008 are Glam Model-Male, Sahil Shroff; Glam Model-Female, Sarah Jane; Glam Film Star-Male, Hrithik Roshan; Glam Film Star-Female, Priyanka Chopra; Politician with Panache, Jyotiraditya Scindia; Most Stylish Businessman, Yash Birla; Most Talked about Debutant-Male, Ranbir Kapoor; Most Talked about Debutant-Female, Deepika Padukone.

Amongst other winners: Glam Debutant Designer is Seema Khan; Glam Women’s wear designer (Contemporary) is Manish Malhotra; Glam Women’s wear Designer (Indian) is Malani Ramani; Glam Menswear Designer is Raghuvendra Rathore; Glam Photographer is Dabboo Ratnani; Glam Sports Star is M S Dhoni; Glam Music Star-Male are Vishal / Shekhar; Glam Music Star-Female is Alisha Chinai; and Glam Couple is Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan.
