Telephoto Entertainment in talks for merger

Telephoto Entertainment Ltd, a Chennai based television production house is said to be in merger talks with a Mumbai based production house. The merger is expected to give Telephoto access to programming f or Hindi satellite channels.

While the management agrees that talks are on, it is not confirming the development yet. Says Suresh Menon, MD, Telephoto, " Nothing has been formalized yet. We are still in talks with Mumbai based production houses."

Promoted by Suresh Menon and his actress wife Revathy, Telephoto has been in the news offlate because of the success of Revathy's directorial debut, "Mitr- My Friend". Many of the company's serials have also been telecast on the various channels of the Sun Network (Sun TV, Surya, Gemini.) At present Telephoto's "Poo Vilangu", a 260-episode soap is on air on Vijay TV. Also, on Jaya TV, it has a talk show with Revathy called "Sindhanaigal." According to Raj TV officials, their new line up of programs also includes a show by Revathy. Telephoto also produces serials in Singapore for the Tamil speaking population.

Suresh Menon started off as an independent cinematographer in 82 and since then he has worked on several serials, ad films and feature films. Apart from producing over 50 ad films for Nutrine, MRF, Co-optex and the like, he has also produced and directed two feature films, 'Pudhiya Mugham' and 'Paasa Malargal. He has also made documentaries for the Andaman and Nicobar administration and corporate films for companies such as Spencer & Co Ltd, and TI Diamond Chain.

Telephoto is well known also for its classic tele-serials on Sun TV such as 'Revathy', 'Doctors', 'Chinna Chinna Asai' and 'Nirangal'.
