TDSAT postpones matters till March as last member retires

The Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has become member-less as its last serving member PK Rastogi retired on February 18, 2013. As may be recalled, TDSAT has been functioning without a head since its previous Chairman SB Sinha retired in November 2012.

Meanwhile, the Tribunal has informed via a notice that states: “It is informed that due to non-availability of Bench of the Tribunal from February 19, 2013, the matter listed before TDSAT on or after February 19, 2013 will be tentatively taken up on March 8, 2013 under their respective heads.”

The notice also mentioned that the matters listed during January 30 to February 13, 2013, which could not be taken up due to non-seating of the bench, will be taken up on March 15, 2013.

Regaarding the appointment of Chairperson and member, the notice said, “In the event of appointment of Chairperson/ member of this Tribunal before March 8, 2013, the said matters shall be placed before them immediately for necessary directions.”

TDSAT comprises of three members – a judicial authority as the chairperson and two non-judicial members – to deal with telecom related litigations.
