India Cements Ltd, who owns the Chennai Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, has roped in popular Tamil actor Vijay as its star ambassador. The actor would be at the forefront of some of the promotions that are being worked out in different parts of Tamil Nadu. India Cements Ltd, which has christened its team ‘Chennai Super Kings’, unveiled its team’s logo the ‘Roaring Lion’ recently. Former opener Krishnamachari Srikant is the team’s brand ambassador.

With actor Vijay on board, India Cements Ltd will kickstart a series of innovative and fun-filled events and promotions shortly. “I have already created an agenda for each player, which will be shared with Kepler Wessels with the objective of offering the best possible advice in shaping our players’ careers. We are happy with the players on board and in the Twenty20 format of the cricket fitness will make the difference,” he further said.

The lead role for the Chennai Super Kings would be played by India’s youth icon and current Indian ODI captain MS Dhoni, who has made India proud champions with victories in the World Cup Twenty20 and the recent triangular series in Australia. The team has some terrific performers in Mathew Hayden and Mike Hussey from Australia, Stephen Fleming and Jacob Oram from New Zealand, Makhaya Ntini and Albie Morkel from South Africa, Muthaiah Muralitharan from Sri Lanka, and Suresh Raina and Joginder Sharma from India.
