Starcom bags media duties of Kajaria Ceramics and Kohler

Starcom MediaVest Group in Delhi has won the media mandate of Kohler India Corp and Kajaria Ceramics. Triton Communications was the incumbent agency handling the Kajaria business, while Starcom is Kohler’s global partner. While agency sources were unwilling to divulge the size of the new businesses, sources close to the development said together it would be in the region of Rs 15-20 crore.

Said Anita Nayyar, Managing Director, SMV Worldwide, India North and Pakistan, “Kohler India Corp is a brand that Starcom handles globally and is now entering India. We’ve been assigned the media duties for the same. Founded in 1873 and headquartered in Kohler, Wisconsin, Kohler is a global leader in products for the kitchen and bathroom, and one of the oldest and largest privately held companies in the US.”

Sharad Mathur, VP and Commercial Director, Kohler India Corp Pvt Ltd, said, “Starcom is our global partner and we are happy to associate with them to build the Kohler brand in India.”

Kajaria is a leading name today in tiles and is known for premium quality tiles, though their budget tiles have also hit the market successfully. The company was looking for a professional media agency to handle its media duties. They were impressed by Starcom’s philosophy and how Starcom is ready to provide holistic solutions to marketing problems of clients.

Said Rishi Kajaria, Director, Kajaria Ceramics, “Given the increasing importance of media planning and buying in the overall marketing game, we wanted to go in for an media agency which not only buys the TVC spots for us but adds value in doing so. We are impressed by Starcom’s presentation, which has basket full of innovations and value additions.”

He added that the company would “also be having very soon a new creative agency on roll. With this new team of creative and media, we are all set to further capture the mind and heart of our customers.”

Added Nayyar, “Both clients offer interesting categories to work with. It will be a valuable experience to handle them and add to our constant endeavour to learn.”

Starcom MediaVest Group is one of the largest media networks in the world, with 2005 reported billing in excess of $22 billion. It was the fastest growing global media network in India in 2004, according to RECMA data. The network also offers solutions in the areas of out-of-home and activation (StarSight), entertainment and embedded marketing (Starcom Entertainment), digital and wireless marketing (Starcom IP), in addition to sports and cause enabled marketing (Relay Worldwide) and Xpanse-Asia (Rural and Small town Marketing).

Besides its media only clients, Starcom India provides media strategy and investment services to the clients of three creative agencies – Ambience Publicis, Leo Burnett, and Orchard. Prominent Starcom India clients include Air Deccan, Cholayil, Fiat, General Mills, Heinz, Procter & Gamble, SAB Miller, Singapore Tourism Board, WorldSpace, and Western Union Financial Services.
