Snapdeal and FreeCharge launch Digital Wallet

Snapdeal owned digital platform for recharge and utility payments FreeCharge, today announced the launch of FreeCharge Digital Wallet. The digital wallet service will transform mobile and web transactions by facilitating easy and secure payments and will be a direct challenge to Paytm. The wallet is being launched in partnership with YES Bank.

With an ecosystem of 8.2 million daily unique users, four million monthly engaged hours, 15 million stored cards, combined with GMV of over USD 4 billion, the FreeCharge Digital Wallet aims to overtake competitors in the next six months.
In line with Snapdeal’s vision of building an impactful digital commerce ecosystem in India, the FreeCharge Digital Wallet will enable a culture of digital payments through multiple partnerships.

In addition to a network of merchant partners, FreeCharge will partner with FINO - a payments bank licensee to build scale and ability to reach even the under-served.

FreeCharge Digital Wallet as a platform aims to leverage enabling technologies such as HCE, NFC, QR code and BLE to bring in efficiencies in the consumers’ purchase experience.
