Seventymm now allows cine fans to ‘Hangout with Movies’

Now movie lovers can look forward to an enhanced film viewing experience right at home with Bangalore-based VCD/DVD rental service company Seventymm launching its interactive platform for movies, called ‘Hangout with Movies’. The platform offers a host of features, interactive games and informative nuggets as well. The new avatar is the result of certain insights and focussed research by the company that seeks to redefine the movie-renting spectrum in India.

Subhanker Sarker, COO, Seventymm, explained, “This initiative will address the global community of Indian movies. From just renting out movies, Seventymm has expanded its canvas for all to discover, enjoy, share and indulge in the world of movies. It promises to be just the right place for movie buffs to hang out with movies and friends. We have contests, movie compatibility contest with friends and sharing of video and images of video stars.”

Sarker further said that there were 40,000 users on their website, of which 50 per cent of the users were from outside India. “We have emerged as a new age media specific to movie buffs,” he added.

Elaborating on the company’s future plans, Sarker said, “We will be focussed on movie rental service and will expand to 20 cities in two years. We are currently present in six cities with 40,000 users. We are targeting 3 lakh users, generating revenue of over Rs 100 crore for the company. We have plans to increase our user base to over one million of our online interactive movie community in the next two years. We are also planning to introduce movie downloads in India by the end of Q4 of 2008.”

Seventymm currently offers more than 15,000 movie titles in English, Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, Malayalam, Telugu, Bhojpuri, Oriya, Punjabi and Rajasthani, and has members across Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh, Mumbai and Chennai.
