Sanjay Purohit and Rob Gilby join UTV Board of Directors

UTV Software Communications has appointed Sanjay Purohit, Executive Director – Marketing, Cadbury India and Head of Chocolate Category in Asia, to its Board as independent and Non-Executive Director. Rob Gilby, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Disney-ABC International Television, Asia-Pacific, also joins the UTV Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director.

With the two new additions, the UTV Software Board now totals 12 Board members. There are three founder promoters – Ronnie Screwvala, Zarina Mehta and Deven Khote; three Disney Directors – Andy Bird, Kevin Mayer and Rob Gilby; and six independent board members – Prem Mehta, Darius C Shroff, Sanjaya Kulkarni, Suketu Shah, Narendra Ambwani and Sanjay Purohit.

Purohit has over 20 years’ experience in creating and growing profitable businesses and brands across varied consumer product categories. He joined Cadbury India in 1999 as Head of Marketing and has since held roles of increasing responsibility in the Sales & Marketing function of Cadbury.

Currently, Purohit has the dual responsibility of Executive Director - Marketing for Cadbury in India and Head of Chocolate Category in Asia. Prior to this, he had headed Marketing and International Business for Cadbury India. Before joining Cadbury, he was with Mobil India as Regional Sales Manager for Mobil Peevees Ltd. Prior to that, he had worked for Asian Paints as a Product Manager.

Gilby joined Disney as Managing Director, Disney Channel UK, Scandinavia & Emerging Markets, in January 2006. Since then, his responsibilities include overseeing growth at Disney Channel with the launch of Disney Cinemagic in the UK, Disney Channel in Poland and South Africa, and Playhouse Disney in Scandinavia.

Prior to Disney, Gilby worked at Turner Entertainment Networks Asia, where he was Vice-President, Network Development and Strategic Marketing, responsible for all marketing and strategic development activities for Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Turner Classic Movies across Asia Pacific.
