The dynamics of business have been changing rapidly in today’s connected world. Business journalists today have to navigate through several challenges and need to frequently update themselves on these changing dynamics.
Keeping this in mind, the Canadian High Commission, in collaboration with exchange4media, is organising a workshop for business journalists, titled ‘Reporting on Business in a Global World’. To be held in Delhi on February 23, 2012, at The Oberoi, the day-long work shop will see several well-known senior journalists share the skills of the trade.
The workshop will begin with a welcome address by Annurag Batra, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief, exchange4media Group. This will be followed by a presentation on ‘Business Journalism in a Global World’ by Janice Neil, Associate Professor, School of Journalism, Ryerson University.
Omkar Goswami, Director, Infosys, and Founder and Chairman, Corporate & Economic Research Group (CERG), will make a presentation on ‘The State of the World Economy and its Impact on India’. Ashok Desai, Consulting Editor, BusinessWorld, will also participate in this session, which will be moderated by Amit Kapoor, Honorary Chairman, Institute of Competitiveness.
N Madhavan, Associate Editor, Hindustan Times, will make a presentation on ‘Covering Economic Indicators’. This will be followed by a presentation on ‘Outlook for Indian Business Media’.
Penelope Macrae, Editor-South Asia, AFP, will speak on ‘Developing Sources for Business News’.
Roma Balwani, Head of Corporate Communications, Mahindra Group, and Janice Neil, Associate Professor, School of Journalism, Ryerson University, will engage in a dialogue on ‘The Human Face of Business’.
The workshop will conclude with a panel discussion on ‘Ethical Challenges in Business Journalism’. The panelists include AK Bhattacharya, Editor, Business Standard; BV Rao, Editor, Governance Now; Dilip Cherian, Founding Partner, Perfect Relations; and, R Sukumar, Editor, Mint.
