Rendez-Vous beckons Indian TV software buyers to France

The 10th edition of ‘Rendez-Vous’, an international mart for French TV software organized by TV France International (TVFI), will be held in Saint-Tropez, France, from September 6-10 this year. The event will see participation by 162 buyers from 94 foreign television channels from more than 38 countries, as well as 44 French production and distribution companies.

“TV France International is a non-profit organization that promotes French television productions in the international market. TVFI’s member-companies, whose activities encompass programme production, broadcasting and distribution, represent the vast majority of French producers, distributors and broadcasters doing business internationally,” said Patrick Madelin, Audiovisual Attache at the Embassy of France in India.

The French TV screenings at Rendez-Vous 2004 are an excellent opportunity for programme acquisition executives from all over the world to discover the diversity of French TV production, Madelin said. He felt that given the interest in the Beirut Showcase held by TVFI in April this year, Rendez-Vous will witness strong attendance from Middle-East buyers.

Commenting upon the Indian outlook for TVFI, Madelin said Rendez-Vous 2004 would be an excellent market for Indian acquisition managers. “Indian acquisition managers can acquire any kind of TV programme -- animation, features, serials, documentaries, etc. -- all available in English, and develop contacts with French producers during the screenings. Last year many of the animation programmes were highly appreciated and acquired for the first time by Indian buyers,” he pointed out.

For the first time, all programmes in the video library will be digitized for enhanced screening quality. Of the 700 programmes that would be presented, 70 per cent would be brand new. The total sales, pre-sales and revenue in co-production reached Euro 230 million in Rendez-Vous 2002.

The list of buyers, French companies and their sales representatives, as well as additional information concerning the programmes, are available on in the Rendez-Vous 2004 section.
