Rajiv Desai and Piyush Pandey win Symbiosis Institute’s Excellence awards

Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication (SIMC), at its annual communication festival, awarded Rajiv Desai, President of IPAN, with the ‘Excellence in Public Relations’ award. The other award winners for excellence were Piyush Pandey for Advertising, Govind Nihalani for Films and Satinder Bindra for Television.

Said Desai on winning the award, “It is indeed a privilege to share this platform with leading creative minds. The fact that this award was conferred by the students and the faculty of Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication makes it extra special. Public Relations is crucial in a maturing democracy like India and underscores the importance of public opinion -- the cornerstone of a dynamic economy. This award is an honour for the PR discipline as a whole.”

As founder president, Desai has built IPAN into one of the most respected names in the public relations business. He has headed IPAN for 16 years. Before he set up IPAN, he was with the international PR firm, Hill and Knowlton, in the US. Desai is a prolific writer and journalist. His articles have been published in leading newspapers and magazines like The Times of India, The Wall Street Journal and Chicago Tribune. His book, ‘Indian Business Culture’, was published by Butterworth Heinemann, UK, in 1999.
