For Percept Ltd, the year 2009 marks the completion of 25 years in entertainment, media and communications. The company had reported capitalised billings of around Rs 1,600 crore in FY08. This apart, a re-branding exercise was undertaken for Percept Holdings in 2008.
Speaking on the occasion, Harindra Singh, Vice Chairman & MD, Percept Ltd, said, “In order to celebrate the 25 glorious years of Percept, some of the initiatives undertaken include launching a special website, www.percept25.com. The website showcases some special videos – Percept Showreel – which offer a preview of the services offered by us. We are also paying tribute to Chairman, Late Shri Mangal Singh.”
He further said, “We are saluting 25 years of success with a special AV created by Perceptites for Perceptites. The nostalgic silver journey captures the many milestones, moments and special occasions during Percept’s 25-year journey. Exclusive milestones and 25-year journey posters, screensavers, and wallpapers are available for the employees on the Intranet. In addition, specially designed Percept diaries and mouse pads have also been distributed across the organisation. Other initiatives include incorporating the 25-year logo on all stationery and all communiqué (newsletters, brochures, e-mails, etc.) throughout 2009.”
Some important milestones in a 25-year journey
During this silvery journey, Percept has expanded to the Middle East with the launch of PDM Gulf. The company embarked on a plan of strategic acquisitions as a key to growth, and acquired financial advertising agency Imageads. The company also took a majority stake in Tiger Sports Marketing, a golfing event management company. P9 Integrated, a specialised entertainment marketing services company was launched. There was acquisition of Swift, the 2nd largest advertising agency in Indore, to expand Percept’s communication service offerings across Central India. Posterscope India, which was later re-branded as Percept Out-Of-Home, was launched.
The company strengthened its PR service offerings in the Middle East region, where Percept Gulf Fz LLc launched Percept Profile Gulf. Perspectrum was set up to offer integrated marketing consultancy and to integrate the Percept’s range of services. The same year, Percept acquired a majority stake in Clea PR.
Percept IMC was re-branded as Percept Holdings, which was again re-branded as Percept Ltd in 2008. The Percept-Aegis partnership underwent restructuring in 2006, with Percept buying back all of Aegis’ shareholdings to attain 100 per cent ownership of PDM India, Posterscope India, and starting its own media business.
Allied Media, a full 360-degree media service offering turnkey solutions in both conventional and new age media, was launched. In 2007, Percept acquired ByDesign India and merged it with Imageads, a Percept agency, to form IBD India Pvt Ltd. Percept Picture Company forayed into distribution with Sony Pictures’ ‘Spiderman’.
