PDM International and 7 Figures Management have jointly launched a nationwide talent hunt for all sports enthusiasts and young men to effectively pitch and pursue an international career in the US, and attain worldwide recognition and fame. ‘The Million Dollar Arm’ (TMDA) is an initiative to identify, groom and mentor a talented sportsperson, and introduce him to the professional world of baseball internationally. Zee Sports has been signed on as the official electronic media partner.

TMDA is first of its kind initiative in India. The objective is to search for most promising pitchers across the country through a dedicated multi-city hunt, providing the youth with an international career opportunity. The final winner will get an opportunity to train in the US for up to 12 months under the supervision of prominent international trainers and scouts, and learn the art of competitive pitching before going for trials with professional baseball teams in the US, and an opportunity to earn major fortune through an international career.

The hunt will commence from in early December this year in Chandigarh. The shuttle is broadly classified into Zone 1 that includes the North and East, and Zone 2 comprising South and West, covering major metros and mini-metros, through a series of promotion rounds. The mega finals of TDMA will be held in March 2008 in Mumbai.

According to Jeff Bernstein, Managing Director, 7 Figures Management, “We are eager to find that one most powerful and fastest arm in this country, and groom him to be the first star baseball pitcher from India to make it to the pros in the US. It’s our vision to make this hunt an annual affair and showcase great talent in India to the world, thereby opening new horizons to Indian sportsmen and common mass alike.”

Sanjay Lal, Managing Director, PDM International, added, “We are glad to partner with 7 Figures Management and Zee Network to give a chance to the 110-crore Indians to pitch. We are confident that we will be able to find that one arm which will be India’s answer to pro baseball in the US, and who will eventually make India proud by becoming a true international sporting icon. PDM continues its innovation in sports ventures and this is just the beginning in what is in store.”

Gaurav Bahal, Head-Production, Zee Sports stated, “As a concept, ‘The Million Dollar Arm’ is very unique. It has the perfect ingredients to make exciting television content. At Zee Sports, we are always looking for content that stands out and offers the viewer something which is a little different from what is available every day on every other channel. We are happy to partner the hunt and we would be involved extensively on a national basis from its inception right till the final pitch is hurled.”

PDM International is one of South Asia and Middle East’s largest sports entertainment and event marketing company, while 7 Figures Management is a California-based sports and talent marketing and management conglomerate.

The three companies involved are aiming at making TDMA an annual property.
