Ninth Auto Expo to commence from January 10 in New Delhi

The ninth ‘Auto Expo 2008’, which is being jointly organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), will take place from January 10-17, 2008 in the Capital.

With ‘Mobility for All’ as the theme for ‘Auto Expo 2008’, the focus would be on advanced environmental and safety technologies, innovative designs, new forms of fun and comfort. Additionally, seminars would cover the automobile arena to create awareness for industry players in particular. For the first time, the expo would provide focused sector pavilions such as accessories and car decor, diesel city, garage equipment, robotics and automation and infrotronics.

The Auto Expo is one of the biggest platforms that facilitates the coming together of auto majors from around the world in a focused fashion. The forthcoming edition is touted to be the biggest, with more global auto players eyeing India as the future market, as also being one of the largest events in Asia covering a space of over 1,20,000 sq. metres – up by around 60 per cent over the expo in 2006 in New Delhi. The eight-day event is expected to draw over 2,000 participants and over a million visitors. It has already achieved the status of one of the top international auto shows by the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobile (OICA).

Major auto giants like Maruti, Tata, Volkswagen, Ashok Leyland, Bajaj Auto, Force Motors, TVS Motors, Hero Honda and Yamaha will be participating, along with participants from 25 countries including Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Spain, Taiwan, the UK and the US. The event is also expected to get a glance of around 30 new vehicle models, including the much-hyped Rs 1 lakh-car from Tata Motors, concept cars ‘A-Star’ and ‘Splash’ of Maruti-Suzuki, Volkswagen’s SUV ‘Touareg’ and the compact car ‘Jazz’ from Honda, among others.

The entry ticket for the auto exhibition will be priced at Rs 100 for general public and Rs 500 for business visitors, while January 9 and 10, 2008, will be the exclusive days for the media.
