Nimbus Motion Pictures has announced that it has launched a World Rights Management Deal in its film business unit, which includes various distribution, satellite and video rights. The first initiative carried out under this deal is a tie-up with ‘Naqaab’, a film produced by Tips.
Directed by Abbas-Mustan, ‘Naqaab’ stars Bobby Deol, Akshaye Khanna and Urvashi Sharma, and will be released on July 13. The worldwide rights will be managed by Nimbus Motion Pictures.
Commenting on the partnership, Kumar Taurani, MD, Tips, said, “We are extremely happy with this association with Nimbus. Nimbus is well-known and we are keen to work with them. This movie also marks their entry into the global rights management space, which Nimbus has the depth of expertise in. We are very sure that this venture will be a success and look forward to strengthening our association with them.”
Akhauri Sinha, VP, Nimbus Motion Pictures, said, “With Tips as our partner into global rights management, we are very confident that this will be a success. Tips has a long history of producing great films and we are delighted with this association.”
Sinha added, “The logical step for Nimbus was in migrating to the expertise of films – the audience being the same. More than a year of planning and development has gone into the filmed entertainment business, starting with the distribution of films like ‘Gangster’, ‘Kalyug’, ‘Killer’ and ‘Woh Lamhe’. ‘Naqaab’ is part of this natural progression. We are confident that, given our experience in sports, we can successfully raise the bar in the films right management business.”
Over the last two years, Nimbus has raised Rs 900 crore from investors like 3i, Cisco, Oman International Fund and Americorp. It has also announced the summer series in Canada, the Middle East, Pakistan, South Africa, Ireland, the UK and Europe, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and India for the six One Day Internationals (ODIs), including the Future Cup and the Future Friendship Cup.
Five Indian matches will be featured against Pakistan, South Africa and Ireland. Indian cricket will be showcased for the first time in Setanta Ireland, Middle East, through ARY Digital; UK and Europe via Zee TV; Australia and New Zealand through Vision Asia; Pakistan through Ten Sports and PTV; South Africa on Supersport; Singapore and Malaysia through Star Hub and Astro; Canada through Asian Television Network; and Hong Kong through Neo Sports.
Nimbus has inked a five-language and six-channel broadcast deal in India. This cricket feed will be available on Neo Sports, SAB TV, Sun News, Gemini News and Udaya Varthalugu in India. It can also be watched online on www.nimbuscricket.com.
Digvijay Singh, CEO, Nimbus Sports, said, “Nimbus has been highly successful in marketing and presenting cricket, and has consistently managed to garner significant footprints across the world in terms of reach. These global deals via broadband and newer media platforms reaffirm our belief that cricket, when packaged well, can attract large audiences. We now look forward to the summer series.”
