NDTV Convergence is organising its first edition of the New Media Congress on May 8 in Delhi. The Summit panel would comprise eminent personalities like Azhar Rafee, EVP, Reuters Asia; Kim Reid, CEO-Mobile, MIH Nasper; Martha Béjar, Corporate Vice President, Communications Sector-Microsoft Corp; Ajit Balakrishnan, Chairman, Rediffusion DYR; Rajesh Sawhney, President, Reliance Entertainment; Jai Menon, Group CIO, Bharti Airtel; Lloyd Mathias Marketing Director, India & South West Asia, Motorola; Kevin Obi, Senior Vice President, Digital Assets, NBC Universal International; Pankaj Sethi President, VAS & Enterprise Market Planning, Tata Teleservices Ltd; and Rohit Sharma, Chief Operating Officer, Zapak Digital Entertainment.

The sessions would be chaired by Vir Sanghvi, Advisory Editorial Director, HT Media Ltd; Vikram Chandra, CEO, NDTV Networks; Sanjay Trehan, CEO, NDTV Convergence; and Anurag Batra, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief, exchange4media.

Speaking on the initiative, Sanjay Trehan, CEO, NDTV Convergence, said, “NDTV Convergence has organised this Congress to have an animated conversation with the fellow travelers in the New Media space in India, which is fast emerging as a game changer. Having seeded the idea of getting all New Media thought leaders and professionals under one roof, it gives me great pleasure to see it take shape in the form of the New Media Congress 2008. We will definitely nurture it and make it an annual property. I am extremely excited about this initiative. This is so relevant today more than ever, when you don’t need to be a leader to voice your opinion, as the world becomes your audience at the click of a mouse.”

New Media is a phenomenon that has dramatically altered the way we communicate. Altered lifestyles and changing consumption patterns have forced publishers and content owners to devise new access points for the consumer on the move. With New Media set for explosive growth, it is a pertinent time to discuss the developments and opportunities available in this sector.

Panelists at the Summit would discuss the role of developing markets and worldwide view of industry trends, technology and its developments in the convergent world. The discussion would also analyse traditional media versus new media and the branding and marketing strategies that need to be developed to maintain customer loyalty.
