Team Nokia at Maxus has been beefed up with the induction of Ajay Gupte as the head on the business. Gupte has joined Maxus from Monday, April 3, 2006, moving from TVS Motor Company where he was Area Manager, Sales, for the past two years. He will be based in Delhi.
Confirming the development, Debraj Tripathy, GM, Maxus Delhi, said, “We are thrilled to have Ajay on board. His all-round experience is going to be an asset in helping us deliver a high quality media product for Nokia.”
Maxus has been in an expansion mode across its offices after picking up big media accounts like Nokia, Perfetti and TataSky in the last few months. Maxus Delhi alone will be nearly doubling its team strength in the coming days.
The account is pegged upwards of Rs 100 crore. The regional pitch that commenced in the last quarter of 2005, following a global realignment, culminated with Nokia deciding to sign on MediaCom as its media agency for the Asia Pacific region. However, in India, Maxus was assigned Nokia’s media duties.
Gupte began his career with Mudra Bangalore, after his post-graduation from MICA Ahmedabad in 1998. He spent two years in Mudra, before moving to Madison Media in 2000 where he worked on the BPL business. He joined TVS Motor Company in 2002 as Manager-Communications. At TVS, he was responsible for Media Investments, TVS presence on cricket, including managing the TVS Cup brand, brand promotions and the TVS retail identity. For the last two years, he was handling sales for the company, his most recent stint being in Kolkata as Area Manager.
