The Bombay Ad Club’s annual M.AD Quiz attracted over 200 people from the ad and corporate world. The event, which was held in Mumbai on January 12, saw Mudra Communications emerge as the winner, while Sun Microsystems was the runner-up.
The event was the fifth annual quiz organised by the Ad Club and was targeted at young media and advertising professionals. Popular quizmaster Derek O’ Brian kept the participants entertained with witty one-liners as he quizzed them on the contemporary and historical facts in the advertising and media industry through a number of quick rounds.
Bipin Pandit, General Manager, Ad Club, said, that the idea behind the event was to provide an educational experience to youngsters. “Any event, which has youngsters as its audience, will always do well. The idea behind the event is to rope in their participation, and also give them a chance to know how competent they are,” he said.
“We have widened our scope. Earlier, we used to look only at marketing and advertising, but now we also look at various other aspects of the media. This is inevitable in this day and age,” he added.
Some of the participating teams this year included the Times Group, SET India, STAR India, Madison Communications, O&M, as well as non-media organisations like UTI Bank.
Top winner Mudra took home Motorola cellphones and Tata Sky set-top boxes, while runner-up Sun Microsystems won Philips MP3 players and Eureka Forbes vacuum cleaners. The event was sponsored by Radio Mirchi, who was the presenting sponsor, and Neo Sports and Hutch.
