Jason Pontin to be lead speaker at FMCC conference on ‘Monetising your new media platforms’

Jason Pontin, Editor-in-Chief and Publisher of ‘Technology Review’, an independent publication owned by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), would be the lead speaker at the Futuristix Media Communication Centre (FMCC) conference on ‘Monetising your new media platforms’. The conference, which would be held on November 29, would focus on new technology and the Internet in the publishing and communication world.

Pontin is responsible for the editorial direction of ‘Technology Review’, an award winning magazine. As publisher, Pontin is responsible for all media and business of ‘Technology Review’, including its print, Internet, videos, e-newsletters, and events.

‘Technology Review’ was a finalist at the Folio Magazine Eddie Awards in the categories of best technology magazine and best single technology article this year.

Pontin was the Editor of ‘Red Herring’, a business and technology publication, during 1996 for six years. From 2002 to 2004, he was Editor of ‘The Acumen Journal’, a now-defunct magazine about life sciences that he had founded.

Pontin has written for several national and international magazines and newspapers, including ‘The Economist’, ‘The New York Times’, ‘The Believer Magazine’, ‘The Financial Times’ and ‘Wired’.

The day long conference of FMCC would also focus on the opportunities the new technology offers to the media, the advertisers and clients. It will discuss the resurgence of online media and the new challenges for traditional media and advertising models.

The conference would be inaugurated by Dinesh Wadhawan, MD & CEO, Times Internet Ltd. Other speakers include Anurag Batra, MD and Editor-in-Chief, exchange4media; Mohit Hira, Director, Times Internet; Dilip Venkatraman, Director-Marketing, CNN-IBN; Pradeep Gupta, Chairman, Cybermedia; Vinod Thadani, Senior Director, GroupM Interaction; Anisha Motwani, Senior VP-Marketing, Max New York Life Insurance; Sanjay Trehan, CEO, NDTV Convergence; Mohit Dhar, MD, Wieden+Kennedy, Delhi; Parminder Singh, Business Head-Technology, Google; venture capitalist Piyush Shah; and Sujal Srivastava, DGM, Reliance Communications.

Lloyd Mathais, Marketing Director, India and South West Asia, Motorola Inc; Chander M Raj, President and CEO, Cross Border Media Inc; Kathleen Kennedy, Senior Vice President, Business Development, Technology Review, MIT are also some of the key speakers. Donald D Kummerfeld, President and CEO, FIPP, would give the valedictory address.

The conference would be attended by media policy makers, media CEOs, advertising agencies, digital professionals, editors, Internet ad sales professionals, Internet entrepreneurs, marketers and brand managers, media professionals and media planning and buying professionals among others.
