Indy’s 2007, in its first year, were constituted to award excellence in the field of mass communication. The event held in Mumbai on January 12 saw the top creative and media persons in the industry rub shoulders with mass communication students. A seminar on ‘Trends in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations’, was presented by industry stalwarts, including Ajay Chandwani, CEO, PerceptH, and was followed by the awards presentation.
R Balakrishnan, National Creative Director, Lowe, was the recipient of the Creative Professional of the Year, while the award for the Agency of the year was bagged by Lintas Media Group. Separate awards were given to various media personalities of the year in their domains. These included A P Parigi for Radio; Girish Agarwal for Print; Pradeep Guha for Television; and Sanjeev Bikchandani in the Internet space. The award for the News Channel of the Year went to NDTV 24x7, while Zoom bagged the Fashion Channel of the Year award.
Many of the industry stalwarts were inducted into the Hall of the Fame. They included high-profile names like Amit Khanna, Prasoon Joshi, Sam Balsara, Marzban Patel and Ajay Chandwani. Personalities from the film industry were also appreciated for their contribution, where Raju Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra walked away with the trophies for the Film Director and Film Maker of the Year, respectively.
The Most Creative ads on TV in the various categories were: Personal - Non Durables Category – Surf Excel; Beverages category – 7Up; Dairy products category – Amul; Finance/Banking and Insurance industry – ICICI Bank and SBI; Corporate TV Commercial – Aditya Birla Group; and the Best Brand Building campaign – Pidilite.
The Most Creative ad in Personal – non durables category went to Godrej Saralee Ltd and the Most Creative ad campaign in the Travel/Hotel and Leisure Industry - Kuoni Travel India Pvt Ltd.
While the award for most creative ad in fashion and lifestyle category went to Titan, the award for most creative ad in Personal – Durables category was bagged by Motorola, and Award for most creative ad in Food and Confectionary category went to Lays.
