Hyundai Verna, Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme bag top honours at Overdrive Awards 2007

In case you are planning to buy a new vehicle, the Overdrive Awards 2007 might just have made it easier for you to choose one. The Overdrive Awards recognise and honour excellence in the automotive field and this year, bagging the top honours are Hyundai Verna, which won the Car of the Year Award, while Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme was declared the Bike of the Year. The Scooter of the Year Award went to Kinetic Blaze, while Honda CRV won the Award for the Best SUV of the Year.

In addition, awards were also presented in nine other categories, including the Best Advertising Campaign of the Year (TVS Star City), Indigenous Design of the Year (Honda Civic), Motor-sport Award of the Year (Gaurav Gill), Bike Maker of the Year (Bajaj Auto Ltd), Carmaker of the Year (General Motor India), Aaj Tak Viewer’s Choice (Honda Civic); Automotive Product of the Year (Electrotherm Yo Bikes), Auto Tech of the Year (Hero Honda PGM Fi), and Import of the Year (Porsche Cayenne).

Prakash Iyer, MD Infomedia India Ltd, said, “These Awards are not only prestigious, but the overall judging is considered to be unbiased and most credible.”

Speaking at the ICICI Bank-sponsored Overdrive Awards, Vaidyanathan, Executive Director, ICICI Bank Ltd, the guest of honour, remarked that the vehicle industry had recorded robust growth in 2006.

These Awards are backed by three apex industry bodies – CII, SIAM and ACMA – and the judging process is validated by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt Ltd.
