Future Group wins IRF Retail Face of the Year Award for 4th consecutive year

Amid celebrations at the Images Retail Awards (IRA) 2007, Kishore Biyani’s Future Group won the coveted IRA ‘Retail Face of the Year’ Award, while Pantaloons won the Most Admired Retailer of the Year Award.

This was Biyani’s fourth podium finish in a row at the IRA. Sunil Bharti Mittal, B S Nagesh and Mukesh Ambani were contenders for this Award. Chairman of Images Group, Amitabh Taneja, presented this coveted award to Biyani.

There was some very tough competition in the ‘Retail Destination of the Year’ category with nominees like Shoppers’ Stop, Inorbit Mall, Big Bazaar, High Street Phoenix and The Forum, Bangalore, in the fray. But finally, it was Big Bazaar that emerged as the winner.

The Images Retail Awards followed strict international benchmarks in deciding the top honours with global consulting firm IRIS as its knowledge partner. The process of short-listing involved self-nominations as well as a countrywide industry poll. The information was then set out in easy flow charts to a high-profile Jury to cast their votes for different parameters and submit the same to IRIS to finally audit the entire selection process and finally submit the results to the organisers – Images.

Acclaimed as the Oscars of the Indian retailing world, the IRA had all the makings of a premier Bollywood awards function – glitter, glamour, and the suspense. The venue was jam-packed with over 2,000 of who’s who of India’s retail industry, apart from some of the renowned retail professionals and experts from across the globe. Pooja Bhatt, Bhagyashree, Padmini Kolhapuri, Zeenat Aman, Mahesh Bhatt and Anupam Kher lent some tinsel town glamour to the event.

The Images Retail Awards was the culmination of the India Retail Forum 2006 (IRF), Asia’s premier business of retail festival, organised by Images Multimedia Pvt Ltd.
