From new media to movies – People Group embarks on a new journey

People Pictures, the film division of Anupam Mittal led People Group, is looking at becoming India’s leading creative film studio. The company is slated to announce four movies that it would produce in the next 18 months.

In the last 10 years, People Group has created some of the more successful brands in the new media space such as Shaadi.com, Mauj Mobile and Fropper.com. Having made a mark in the Internet and mobile VAS industry, this move towards the entertainment industry is an obvious choice in making People Group a complete new media and entertainment company.

Speaking about the latest developments at People Pictures, Anupam Mittal, CMD, People Group, said, “The filmed entertainment space is going through exciting times currently, and we believe that this is the right time to go full throttle into the business. We are confident that the relationships that we have built over the years in the film industry coupled with our deep understanding of marketing and building brands along with a focus on creativity and innovation will help our grow into a studio that most artists would like to associate with.”

He further said, “We are starting with building a strong team that is capable of managing and expanding this business. Venessa Roy, who was Head of Marketing at UFO Moviez, has joined People Pictures as Head of Marketing, and Pooja Desai, who was previously MTV’s Marketing Manager, has joined us in the position of Project Manager on Film Productions. Additional announcements on the key management recruitments will be made over the next two weeks.”
