Managing and motivating staff during times of economic slowdown is a challenge. The third FMCC Human Capital Forum, being held at the India Habitat Centre in the Capital on April 18, 2009, seeks to address this pertinent issue. The Forum is being organised by media, journalism, advertising and communication school Futuristix Media Communication Center (FMCC).
The first FMCC Human Capital Forum held in 2007 had the theme of ‘Is HR a business partner’, while the second Human Capital Forum debated on ‘From Promoter First to People First’. Both these themes resonated well in the industry.
Continuing the success of past gatherings, the third Human Capital Forum will focus on how best to manage and motivate staff in this downturn, where layoffs have truncated staff, cost-cutting measures are threatening projects, and morale is at an all time low.
Highly successful professionals from the world of media and HR will share their thoughts during the Forum. Students and other attendees will have the opportunity to combine their academic knowledge with these insights into practical experiences.

The Forum has been divided into four different sessions. The event will commence with a welcome note by Anurag Batra, Editor-in-Chief, exchange4media Group, followed by keynote address by strategic communication consultant PV Narayanmoorthy.
The first session will be on ‘People management and its intricacies in a downturn’, followed by ‘Salary Cuts v/s Layoffs - Is there a better solution?’ The two post-lunch sessions would be on ‘What different should the media industry be doing to strengthen its HR policies and practices’ and ‘Talent crunch in Indian journalism.’
