Filmbooth 2008 opens in Delhi today

A unique festival of short films, Filmbooth 2008, is getting underway in Delhi on December 19. This three-day festival is being organised by Forum for Films, a community for short filmmakers, at the India Habitat Centre.

Planned on the lines of LA Shortfests, The Manhattan Shorts, NY Shorts, the event aims at bringing together short films from across the country, providing a common platform to filmmakers to showcase their talent.

This competitive event has two categories – up to one minute films and up to 20 minutes films in the fictional/ non-documentary in style and character. The jury includes Santosh Desai, MD & CEO, Future Brands; film producer Sandeep Marwah; Santosh Padhi, Creative Director, Leo Burnett; theatre personality Lushin Dubey; media consultant Vanita Kohli Khandekar; film critic Saloni Puri; and digital photographer Avinash Pasricha, among others.

Apart from movies selected for participation, the festival will also screen short movies made by renowned filmmakers, including special short films made on AIDS. The festival opens with Mira Nair’s film, ‘Migration’. The other films include Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Blood Brothers’, Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Positive’ and Santosh Sivan’s ‘Parambha’.

The event will also feature experts’ talks and open discussion sessions, where filmmakers, audience and experts connect on a single forum to discuss the latest and the best in the short films ecosystem.
