Chax, Prasoon, Josy, Sridhar & Balki nominated in Communications category of Teacher’s Achievement Awards

Beam Global Spirits & Wine, the fourth largest spirits manufacturer in the world, has announced the nominations for the Communications Category of the 6th Annual Teacher’s Achievement Awards.

The nominees include some of the most respected names in advertising today: Rediffusion DYR’s NCD, K S Chakravarthy, or ‘Chax’ as he is popularly known, who is the first Indian to be awarded a Cannes Lion; Brand David Chairman & NCD, Josy Paul, known for his radical ways and cutting-edge thinking; Leo Burnett’s NCD, K V Sridhar, who continues to inspire youngsters with his drive to push creative standards in advertising; McCann Erickson India & Southeast Asia Regional Creative Director, Prasoon Joshi, renowned for his unique ability to connect with the common Indian and an eminent figure in the film world too; and Lowe India’s NCD, R Balakrishnan ‘Balki’, respected for his talent in creating advertising that sells.

The Teacher’s Awards seek to honour individuals for their achievements in the fields of Business, Entertainment, Sports and Communications. Among past winners of the Communications award have been NDTV Profit’s Executive Editor, Vikram Chandra, in 2003; journalist Karan Thapar in 2004 and Director of Equinox Films, Ram Madhvani, in 2005.

Announcing the nominees in the Communications category, Beam Global Spirits & Wine (India Business) MD, Harish Moolchandani, said, “This year’s five nominees are among the most distinguished in their field, matching our past nominees for eminence. They stand for creativity and excellence and define achievement.”

An advisory panel comprising Pritish Nandy, Prahlad Kakkar and Ayaz Memon first made a shortlist of nominees. Then a panel comprising O&M Group Executive Chairman & NCD, Piyush Pandey, Contract’s Executive Creative Director, Syeda Imam, and founder of Chlorophyll Brand & Communications, Kiran Khalap, evaluated the nominees. The process was validated by consulting firm KPMG.

The award ceremony will be held on November 25, 2006 at The Grand, New Delhi.
