Best of Bharat Kapadia’s ‘Kahani Mein Twist’ unveiled

Everyone in the Indian media and communications industry is familiar with print honcho and industry association bossman Bharat Kapadia’s one liners, which are a regular feature in IMPACT, called ‘Kahani Mein Twist’. The best 50 of these cartoon strips by the Director of Lokmat Group are now published by IMPACT and the exchange4media Group as ‘Best of Kahaani Mein Twist’. The book was unveiled last week at the IMPACT Person of the Year ceremony in Mumbai. The event was presented by Jagran.

Speaking on the occasion, Anurag Batra, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, exchange4media Group, said, “‘Kahaani Mein Twist’ is decidedly one of the most read parts of IMPACT every week. I generally give instant feedback to Bharatbhai on the cartoon strip and we are happy to publish this special volume containing the best of his toons.”

Kapadia had started contributing his witty and insightful comments in the form of cartoons for the publication Divya Bhaskar, when he was associated with that group. Eight hundred and fifty cartoons later and a year after he left the Dainik Bhaskar Group, the Editor of IMPACT approached him to bring in a humour element into the magazine and thus, the cartoon strip came into existence.

“The column started as a monthly feature, which soon became a regular one in IMPACT and it’s a pleasure that a compilation of the best 50 is being published,” said Bharat Kapadia. “I would like to thank Jignesh Maniar and his creative duo – Abhay Manchekar and Shweta Dolye – at Onads, who come up with apt illustrations. If I attempted to sketch, there would be no need to write any lines for the humour,” he quipped.

“I would like to thank Mr Goenka from Prabhat Khabar for making this book happen,” added Batra. Apart from being an editorial cartoonist, Bharat Kapadia is also an accomplished singer and a marathon runner.
