Balaji Telefilms is planning a capital expenditure of Rs 30 crore over the next two years to beef up its infrastructure facilities in Chennai and Bangalore. The company has also decided to get into film production this year by targeting low-budget films.
Balaji Telefilms plans to enhance its presence in the south mainly Kerala, and later on the company will look at opportunities in Bengali and Punjabi channels. The company has already increased their exposure to Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh-based channels.
While there will be no major changes in its strategies, Balaji Telefilms is planning to increase its programming hours on major channels.
The main focus of the company would be to further improve realisation. It would also strengthen the positioning of afternoon band, while expanding prime time band.
Balaji Telefilms has posted a net profit of Rs 8.93 crore for quarter ended March 31, 2002, compared with a net loss of Rs 2.10 crore during the corresponding period last fiscal. The total income increased from Rs 14.77 crore to Rs 34.87 crore.
