O&M has once again swept away the Abby Awards as the Bombay Advertising Club gave away yet another round of awards this year. O&M and Grey walked away with the maximum trophies, while Brand David won not just some special accolades from the judges, its witty radio ads kept the audience in splits.
At the event that took place on March 3, O&M won the Agency of the Year award for the sixth consecutive year, while its Creative Director, Avinash Baliga, won a silver in the Young Abby Award.
Bipin Pandit, GM of the Bombay Advertising Club, was thrilled with the response. “There is a huge amount of effort that goes into organising an event of this magnitude. We have been working hard on it for the last three or four months now, and the effort has paid off,” he said.
He added, “The agencies that did not participate would definitely be missed, but the awards have still been a great success. The ones who did not participate will lose out on as much of an opportunity as we lost in having them.”
In Ambient Media, the newest category introduced, O&M, Everest and Grey were the ones who took away the prizes. OglivyOne, BCWise, WebChutney and Redice Films shared the Interactive Digital Marketing awards.
Brand David, FCB Ulka, MTV Networks, O&M and Bates shared most of the radio awards, while Grey, O&M and ‘A’ shared the awards in the Outdoor Media category.
During a media interaction, Sagar Mahabaleshwarkar, Group Creative Director, O&M, observed, “The award winning ads are like F1 cars. They cannot be practically driven on the roads, but the F1 engines still inspire engineers and car designers all around the world.”
