Maurya TV, the television venture of filmmaker Prakash Jha, has commenced operations from Patna. However, the launch of the channel is yet to be announced officially. With this launch, the Bihar-Jharkhand belt will get an infotainment channel in its local language.
Among the top team for Maurya TV are Mukesh Kumar, the Director of the channel, who will also look after the editorial team; Vivek Sachar is the Marketing Head; Sunil Agrawal is the CFO; Vijay Nath Mishra is the General Manager; while Gunjan Sinha is the Creative Director of the channel.
Speaking to exchange4media, Jha said, “It’s a completely Bihari channel in a very local language. The channel will be a complete infotainment channel. We will focus on the issues of Bihar and Jharkhand, as well as the talent and icons of these two states.”
He further said that this was the first satellite channel of Bihar and very soon they would be starting an entertainment segment, analytical episodes and some other information-based series. On the marketing plans of the channel, Jha said, “At present, we are targeting on the local market, but soon we will step towards the national market as well.”
Maurya TV has tied up with various news agencies for news content. The channel currently has a staff strength of 150 and is operating from Patna. This launch is likely to give stiff competition to established channels like ETV Bihar, Sahara Samay and Mahua TV in that region.
