Discovery Network promises unusual journeys – ancient and new

Discovery Network has lined up two interesting programmes. ‘Secrets of Egypt’s Lost Queen’ will premiere on Discovery Channel on August 19, 2007, at 8 pm. The series ‘Not Your Average Travel Guide (NYAG)’ will be aired every Saturday at 10 pm on Discovery Travel and Living starting June 30.

In what is the most important find in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings since the discovery of King Tutankhamun, ‘Secrets of Egypt’s Lost Queen’ exclusively reveals archeological, forensic and scientific evidence identifying a 3,500-year-old mummy as Hatshepsut, the queen who would be king of Egypt. The film follows a team of top forensic experts and archeologists, led by Zahi Hawass, Egypt’s secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, as for the first time ever they use the full range of forensic technology to identify Hatshepsut.

On the other hand, Discovery Travel and Living promises to take its audience on a trip to the world's coolest cities, amazing places and exciting events in its new and unconventional series NYAG. An interpersonal journey through the roads less travelled, the series presents a real and accessible approach to touring the world.

Speaking about NYAG, Deepak Shourie, EVP and Managing Director of Discovery Networks India, said, “India is witnessing an unprecedented growth in global travel to both traditional holiday destinations and more exotic locations. NYAG has been launched in response to this overwhelming trend and the incessant demand and preference of our viewers to watch and visit distinctive sights and locations.”
