Vijay TV to host musical nite to celebrate Hariharan's 50th birthday

Vijay TV, Star's Tamil entertainment channel, is conducting a musical nite at Chennai to celebrate the 50th birthday of singer-composer Hariharan on April 2. Hariharan will take the stage alongside a galaxy of South Indian musicians and singers.

An occasion has been created around the musical nite, titled "Isaiyodu Pirandhen," featuring Hariharan along with others including S P Balasurbamaniam, Srinivas, Chitra, Sujatha, Harini and filmstars Madhavan and Kushbu. The event is to be held at the YMCA grounds from 1830 hrs.

Various stars from the tinsel town are expected to be present on the occasion, according to a release from the channel. The event is to be aired on the channel at a later date. Vijay has taken the non-ticketed event route, and passes are being distributed through sponsors and other consumer-promotions.

Hariharan, one of the famous 'Colonial Cousins,' is a singer whose work is remembered as much for his rendition of ghazals as he for the numerous film hits in different languages.
