Channel [V] has announced the arrival of AR Rahman, for the final phase of auditions of Samsung [V] Super Singer. Rahman will accompany Adnan Sami on Channel [V] in the final stages of selection for India’s next singing sensation. Reality shows are getting bigger by the day with Indian Idol on Sony Entertainment Television had Zayed Khan and Juhi Chawla as special guests for the gala rounds and Richard Gere also met the participants on his visit to India.
Commenting on Rahman’s arrival on the show, Amar K Deb, the Channel [V] Head Honcho, says, “With Samsung [V] Super Singer, [V] along with Adnan Sami travelled more than 9,500 kms across 10 cities to discover the voice of India. Not only this, we went on to cement our leadership position with the launch episode of the show with a TVR of 6.9, thus matching the popularity of daily soap operas on prime time television. And now, as we move into the finale of this incredible reality show, it is befitting that we approach the country’s leading music director AR Rahman to help us in the final stage in the search of the next singing sensation of the country.”
Samsung [V] Super Singer is a quest to seek the country’s next singing sensation. The competition was held in five levels; in the first level, city-wise auditions were held across 10 cities namely Mumbai, New Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Kolkata, Indore, Hyderabad, Cochin, Bangalore and Ahmedabad. In the second level, candidates short-listed from the city auditions, participates in the zonal auditions in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
The 30 successful aspirants from the zonal auditions will be taken through a training and grooming programme. These 30 aspirants will further get short-listed to five and these finalists will then undergo another month of training and grooming. They will also be given an opportunity to compose their own original tracks for the final audition. Here, the viewers also get a chance to participate in the judging process, by voting via SMS for their favourite participant.
The winner of the Samsung [V] Super Singer contest will get a recording contract for a music album and also an opportunity to playback for a Bollywood producer. A music video will be released to launch the album and the other four finalists will contribute one original track each to the album.
