Divya Bhaskar launches DB Gold, the first mainline colour afternoon paper for Surat

Divya Bhaskar, the Gujarati daily from the Bhaskar Group, has just launched DB Gold, Surat’s first afternoon paper and also the first afternoon initiative from the Bhaskar Group in Gujarat. It launched with 80,000 copies.

In addition to Ahmedabad, Baroda, Surat and Bhavnagar (Saurashtra Samachar), Divya Bhaskar, with eight editions in Gujarat, has the largest number of editions. It launched in Jamnagar, Rajkot, Anand and Bhuj within the last six months.

Ashwini Agarwal, State Head, Gujarat, Divya Bhaskar, said, “DB Gold is designed to cater to the needs of the industrialist, trader and business community of Surat, which is over 2.52 lakh strong. Their remaining at the point of business during the afternoon with comparatively more time on hand was identified as a great opportunity to bring out an afternoon paper. This is in line with Bhaskar Group’s strategy to connect with its readers across different time points.”

L K Dubey, Unit Head, Divya Bhaskar, Surat, said, “Divya Bhaskar has the highest readership in the cities of Ahmedabad, Baroda and Surat, with a total readership of 54.2 lakh in Gujarat. It is the No. 1 newspaper of Surat with 1.75 lakh copies (ABC JD06) and as per NRS ’06. We have a readership of 7.58 lakh, which is 19.3 per cent more than Gujarat Samachar. The first day response and the almost 100 per cent confirmed bookings have proven yet again that Bhaskar knows the pulse of its market.”
