Indian Language Newspaper Association to hold its 65th AGM on July 15

Indian Language Newspaper Association (ILNA) is gearing up for its 65th Annual General Body meet, where the topic of discussion will be to find ways to improve the language press, which is the need of the day for Indian democracy. Titled ‘Language Press Problems and its Development’, the meeting will see eminent personalities express their view on this subject.

The inaugural speech will be delivered by I&B Minister, Priyaranjan Das Munshi. The main speakers on the occasion include Ajay Maken, Minister of State for Urban Development, and Chaudhary Prem Singh, Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly.

Sunil Dang, Vice-President, ILNA, said, “The meeting will try to highlight the issues that surround the vernacular press and get the government bodies to focus on them and try to resolve them. We will also address other bodies, including readership survey bodies, business houses and advertisers, to look at this issue and arrive at a possible solution.”

He further said, “Some of the other issues that would be covered include modernising news rooms of vernacular medium, look at ways to introducing new technology to vernacular press and find ways to effectively utilise the interactive media in this field.”

Besides these, the agenda also includes electing seven members INLA body at the AGM. This will include National President (1), Vice-Presidents (2), General Secretaries (3) and Treasurer (1).
