The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) recently organised an interactive session with Jean Pierre Teyssier, President, European Advertising Standards Alliance (EASA), along with officials from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The panel discussed the importance of self- and co-regulation as a tool for responsible commercial communication.

He also talked about the various challenges and opportunities that the advertising governing body faced today.

Speaking the meeting, Teyssier, too, stressed on the need for self- and co-regulatory regimes at a national level. He said that the regimes should be formed in such a manner that they were accepted by all stake-holders and provided effective enforcement.

While Pravin Kumar and Uday Kumar Verma represented the I&B Ministry at the the interactive session, ASCI was represented by its Chariman, Bhaskar Das, and Vice-Chairman Madhukar Kamath.
