In an attempt to generate larger mass appeal in its mission to fight ill-treatment against animals, People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has released its latest ad campaign featuring Bollywood-star Amisha Patel as a terrified prisoner in a jail to depict the wretched conditions of animals in zoos across the country. Chief Functionary Anuradha Sawhney says celebrity endorsement works best in order to create awareness among people. New print campaigns on the theme of ‘hottest vegetarian’, featuring celebrities, will be launched soon.
Elaborating on the latest ad campaign with Patel, Sawhney informs that the ad carries a tagline that says, ‘Zoos are Pitiful Prisons – Let animals Live Free!’ The campaign talks about the conditions of animals in the zoos and is being released in nine languages. Ace photographer Ashok Salian and dress designer Anna Singh have contributed in the development of the ad.
However, as the PETA chief says, recently Aishwarya Rai wrote a heartfelt letter to help save an endangered black rhino. Pandit Ravi Shankar and his daughter Anoushka appeared for the first time in an ad that ran on all major television channels. Shilpa Shetty figured in an ad to showcase the pitiful condition of circus animals. Raveena Tandon posed with Jamuna, a cow, to protest cruel cattle transport. Pamela Anderson, Harsha Bhogle, Madhuri Dixit, Madhavan, Amitabh Bachchan, Yana Gupta and Rahul Dev have also been featured in different campaigns PETA carried out so far.
