WSH gets Vodafone, Seagram’s Imperial Blue as official sponsors

Close on the heels of Bridgestone bagging the title sponsorship of the inaugural World Series Hockey, which got underway from February 29, 2012, Vodafone and Seagram’s Imperial Blue have signed up as official sponsors.

The Bridgestone World Series Hockey kickstarted on February 29, 2012, and will involve 200 leading players – Indian and international – who will showcase their talent in 59 matches and vie for the biggest prize money for a hockey tournament in the world.

The eight venues for the inaugural edition of the league are Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Jalandhar, Mumbai and Pune.

A joint initiative between the Indian Hockey Federation (“IHF”) and Nimbus Sport, Bridgestone World Series Hockey™ was conceived with the objective of reinvigoration of the sport of hockey in India and making hockey the “sport of choice” for young Indians. With a total prize purse of approximately US $2 million, Bridgestone World Series Hockey™ will be an annual event with a multi city franchise-based model.
