Unitech to be title sponsor for Sri Lanka Tri-Series

Real estate and infrastructure developer Unitech Ltd has been appointed title sponsor of the forthcoming Sri Lanka Tri-Series. The deal with Ten Sports is estimated to be a multi-crore rupee deal.

Starting August 14, 2006, the Unitech Cup will have India, Sri Lanka and South Africa fight for the trophy.

Commenting on the association with the cricket Tri-Series, Sanjay Chandra, Managing Director, Unitech Ltd, said, “It gives us great pleasure to be associated with the Unitech Cup as its principal on-ground sponsors. Cricket in the Indian sub-continent symbolises the spirit of fraternity and national solidarity, coupled with a spirit of sportsmanship where the best always wins.”

Accvording to Arunangsu Ghosh, Chief Consultant - Special Projects, Right Angle Media, the title sponsorship right was acquired from Right Angle Media FZ LLC, a Dubai-based Sports Management & OOH Media company, which had the rights in association with Ten Sports. Apart from this, Right Angle Media also owns various sponsorship opportunities and in-stadia/ground advertising opportunities for this series comprising seven ODIs.

According to a release, sports management company Collage Sports Management has been instrumental in finalising the deal between Unitech and Ten Sports. Latika Khaneja, Director, Collage Sports Management, said, “The title sponsorship of the forthcoming cricket Tri-Series featuring India, Sri Lanka and South Africa in Sri Lanka would be a huge success. This would be a tremendous branding opportunity for Unitech.”

This is the first initiative by Unitech towards promoting sports.
