Starcom Mediavest Group Wins AirAsia's Search Biz in 16 Markets in APAC

Starcom Mediavest Group's (SMG) Malaysia office, together with India's SMG Convonix has won AirAsia Berhad's search marketing business across 16 markets in Asia Pacific.

The markets include Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Australia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Brunei and India. The win comes after a multi-agency pitch.

Spencer Lee, AirAsia Head of Commercial, said, "We are pleased to appoint SMG as our Global Search Agency and look forward to embark on a great partnership. The selection was based on strong technical and process skills and SMG's capability to understand our nature of business in great depth.”

Sarfaraz Khimani, co-Founder of SMG Convonix, said, "AirAsia was impressed with the depth of our search knowledge, the tools used and our ability to marry their business metrics with search metrics,"

Wong Piyee, Managing Director Starcom Mediavest Group Malaysia, said,"People are our strength. Our fearless imagination on how to grow their brand faster, powered by Convonix advance search capabilities has worked in our favour.”

The group released the Little Hearts online-only campaign, #BreakSomeHearts, early this year and is on the path to make many more of its brands available on the digital platform
