Sananda Tilottama celebrates a decade of showcasing beauty

Sananda Tilottama, perhaps the largest beauty pageant from eastern India, will have its grand finale on May 27, 2006 in Kolkata. Sananda Tilottama is an effort from ‘Sananda’, the women oriented Bengali magazine from the Ananda Bazaar Patrika Group, to further strengthen its pursuit in empowering women. Somewhat along the lines of the Femina Miss India beauty pageant, Sananda Tilottama is one of the many ground activities hosted by Sananda.

This year, the beauty pageant is titled the Vatika Honey and Saffron Soap Sananda Tilottama, and in association with EverYuth and Seagrams Blenders Pride, made a debut of sorts with the finals of the North East preliminary rounds held at Guwahati.

A sub-contest will also be conducted on the main event day, wherein the winner ‘Ever Yuth Priyottama’ will be chosen by a public poll and will get a place among the Top Ten contestants. The jewellery for the contest is being sponsored by Kolkata based MP Jewellers, while Westside is the wardrobe partner.

The pageant has also launched its own website, While Aakash Bangla is the official TV partner, the SMS polling facilities on Hey Ya (8243) will encourage audience participation.

Sananda has changed with times so much so that now it is more focused on the world of the more outgoing and confident women of today. The Oriya edition of the women’s fortnightly was introduced in 2005.
