Promax & BDA World Gold Awards finalists announced

In its second year, Promax & BDA India Conference & Awards 2005 is geared up to take a closer look at the Indian television scene. The event is to be held in Mumbai in July. The entries are coming in and the winners will be honoured at the event.

Monica Wong, Director, Promax & BDA Asia, informed that the conference and awards will take place on 11 and 12 July 2005 and the winners will be announced at the conference itself.

The conference itself would be something to look forward to this year as well. Last year, Promax & BDA explored various components of promo making, tools for a winning promo and also international examples. This year, the plan keeps in mind India progress in regards to alternative delivery platforms, with direct-to-home television and the possibility of IPTV.

This year the Chairman of the conference is STAR India’s COO, Sameer Nair. The Awards’ Chairman is Khalid Sayed, B4U Television Network (India) Pvt Ltd, VP, programming and production, (India & Overseas).

On another note, Promax & BDA World Gold Awards finalists are announced. The entries were open to Satellite, Cable, Broadcast Television, Radio Station and associated new media, their agencies and production houses. STAR India has one of highest number of finalist entries. The other channels include, BCCL’s Zoom TV, TV Today, Sony Entertainment Television, NDTV, Turner Broadcast, HBO, NGC, Discovery, History and MTV Networks.

Looking at the BDA World Gold Award finalists, STAR Network is one of the high scorers making it in categories like Logo, ID, Topical On-Air, Children of Game Set, One Time Only Set and so on.

Sony figures in categories like Topical all-inclusive combination, ID, Promotional items and Sales and Marketing presentation. HBO is chosen for its Topical Promo campaign, NGC for Interstitial campaign and Discovery Network for On-Air Illustrations,

Most other channels find their place in the Promax World Gold Awards including STAR again. B4U Television is a finalist for special event programme promotion. Among the other names, Zoom TV has made it in the categories of Public Service Announcement (PSA), Print Campaign and Music Package/Post Score or Instrumental Theme With or Without Vocals. The channel is very excited, “We are just a few months old in this game and to be recognised in three categories for an awards as prestigious as this is a great feeling,” said Aparna Paande, Programming head, Zoom TV.
