Pitch Exclusive: Speaker BMW's Christian Saffer & decoding the Indian luxury market

Christian Saffer, Marketing Director, BMW India has played a key role in the growth of the BMW brand India. He has started his career at BMW AG in Germany and joined BMW India in 2010.

Within just two years of entering the Indian market in 2007, BMW overtook Mercedes-Benz and became the leader in the luxury cars segment in the country. The next year (in 2010), the compa-ny scored 73 per cent growth in sales volume, continuing its leadership in the category. Speaking at the forthcoming Pitch CMO Summit, Saffer will share how BMW has been able to success-fully decode the Indian luxury market.

Talking about the Indian luxury market, Saffer said, “The Indian luxury consumers, characterised by elitism and heritage, are very demanding as compared to their European counterparts. The ever evolving Indian luxury consumers today are well-travelled, sophisticated, discerning and have very high expectations when it comes to luxury purchase.”

The Indian luxury market is still at a nascent stage, but promises immense potential with rising purchasing power, growing aspiration for luxury brands and evolving lifestyles. And that’s why many luxury brands have entered the Indian market over the last few years and are doing every-thing to woo the Indian consumer.

Saffer commented, “To meet the expectations of the luxury consumer in India, BMW India of-fers an enhanced experience through luxurious dealerships, exceptional brand engagement events and outstanding customer service in addition to superior quality products to our clientele in In-dia.”

On November 25, 2011, Saffer will share the secret formula that has helped BMW in decoding the Indian luxury market.
