Pitch Exclusive: Sharmili Rajput’s formula for connecting well with Indian women

Indian consumers have been evolving at a fast pace and savvy marketers are reading these signs of change and breaking new grounds. The Pitch CMO Summit takes a close look at brands and companies that are ‘Breaking New Grounds’. The Summit will be held in three cities: Mumbai (November 21, 2011), Bangalore (November 23, 2011) and New Delhi (November 25, 2011).

Talking about the challenge of exciting Indian consumers, Rajput said, “Oriflame as a brand believes in empowering women worldwide. In our 15 years’ journey in India, we have achieved a consultant base of 1.6 lakh people, mostly women. For a land like India that celebrates entrepreneurship, our direct selling model has worked extremely well, especially for women.”

The direct selling industry in the country is estimated to be over Rs 7,000 crore, growing at 24 per cent annually. Oriflame, the Swedish beauty brand in the direct selling space, claims to have 20-30 per cent share of this industry. Rajput is responsible for helping Oriflame to connect better with Indian women. She brings with her a rich experience of over 15 years in marketing and brand building.

On November 25, Rajput will share her thoughts on connecting with Indian women in the best possible ways at the Delhi leg of the Pitch CMO Summit.
