Intelligent design options needed today: Preeti Vyas

The Designomics Awards is one of its kind of in India that not only appreciates good design, but also empowers, celebrates and elevates the businesses that adopt the power if design to bring positive and lucrative results.

The few categories that Designomics felicitated designers and business houses were for Strategic brand identity, print publication design annual reports, brochures and books, way finding ways , Digital website user, interface, innovation. Packaging – Consumer appliances, FMCG, Environments Residential, Commercial, Township Landscaping, Sustainability, Retail spaces was hosted at the world brand congress.

Giving an insight on the inception of Designomics, Preeti Vyas, Chairperson, VGC said, “As a keen observer I have seen how India has developed its socio-economic systems by embracing the changing technology. One of the important factors for India is to leverage change through its intelligent intervention of design. I had got an opportunity to study The Good Design Awards last year. It was one very important factor of my inspiration that lead me take an initiative in design industry in India. The Good Design Award is the Japanese comprehensive design evaluation and commendation system, operated by Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization. The system has its origins in the “Good Design Selection System” instituted by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Japan in 1957. The award system was established based on the belief that good design is essential and indispensable to everyday life of people after the Pacific war, and that the good design shall give people prosperous lives through the eminent power of good designs. There was a movement by the government, today with the inception of Designomics, we aim to create an awareness movement in the design industry through various forums, events and awards. Most important effort is to create intervention at ever social economic category.”

When Preeti Vyas was asked to share key messages that she wants to give the Indian designers, she said, “Every design is a collaborative strategic process not a crafted process for this a designer has to partner with the client at every stage of planning to get the right idea of design. Secondly every designer should create intelligent design options keeping the needs of the client clear in mind and once this is done, the ROI of design is then set perfectly, there by making you a true design custodian.”
